When we find it difficult to process change in our life it may require us to have a perspective change. This blog post I wrote a few years back on a different platform but feel that it is relevant for right now. Many of you are facing change. Processing your current struggles will require you to desire to pursue healing more than the fear that keeps you stuck in your struggle and dysfunction. As you read this my hope is that you are able to see where you are and where you want to be. Be willing to trust God with the results because he knows what you need and how to get you where you need to be.
Blog Post- Perspective Shift
Written by Laura Burgoyne March 17, 2019
Change has always been a subject of great anxiety among most people I have talked to. People generally fear the future or when things change because it is unknown territory. Sometimes staying in a difficult or bad situation seems better than moving forward into a new season. So how do we get to the point that when God is bringing transition into our lives that we willingly and with great expectation leave behind the old and step into the new? We see this transition sometimes as a cliff. What we know is behind us and what is ahead is like jumping off this cliff. We have no idea what’s on the other side, how deep the valley is or what will be there to greet us on the way. We may also fear that we will not survive the plunge into the unknown.
I am currently in a season like this where God is inviting me into a new season. And with it, I have great expectations of good things. And I have an excitement that what is on the other side will be so much more glorious than where I am now. I don’t have the fear that normally accompanies great change. And I credit this to God. He has shifted my perspective. No longer do I see this cliff as a precipice leading me into unknown treachery? It is an open door to the more of God. For me to fulfill the purposes he has for me and to see more of the miracles, signs and wonders of God.
Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask, or imagine, according to his power that is working within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations.”
God often doesn’t show us what’s beyond this point because where ever he takes us will require faith and will require us to trust him completely. So, I ask you some questions.
Do you believe that God is who he says he is?
Do you believe that he is always with you and he will never leave you?
Do you believe that he has your back and that with him all things are possible?
I do believe all these things. In fact, I know them to be true. And so now I see this cliff not as a scary unknown place, but I see it as God inviting me on the adventure of my Life! There are only two outcomes for me as I leave the past behind and run with excitement into the unknown. As I leap off this cliff, one of two things will happen. Either I will catch the wind and fly like an eagle. Soaring over everything and being able to see above everything. Seeing things from a different perspective and seeing the bigger picture. Seeing things from his point of view. Or I will dive deep into the waters below. I will enter a season of going deeper into his heart. It is in this place where he will show me his hidden treasures. He will speak his mysteries to us. Revealing things to us that we could not conceive previously.
And so, I know that many of us are in seasons of transitions, and seasons of change. I want to encourage you to see this from a different perspective. Remember that God is always with you. And when we trust him with every detail of our lives the outcomes will be as they should be. Leave the past behind and move forward with excitement and expectation that God is inviting you on the Adventure of your life.
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
1 Corinthians 2:9-12 As it was written, “No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him, but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of man except the man’s spirit. In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God, that we may understand what God has freely given to us.”
